Blog Spotlight: A Return to the Keep

I haven't prominently featured someone else's blog here for a while. It was back in October 2012 when I featured the Dicechucker blog. I did it, partially, as part of a "bandwagon jumping" effort: Tim at The Other Side was posting a series about "The Best Blog You Are Not Reading" (TBBYANR) at the time, and I thought it was a great idea. However, I didn't keep up with that endeavor (come to think of it, I'm not sure if Tim did either).
Anyway, that was the past. I'd like to tell you about a new blog called A Return to the Keep (not to be confused with Back to the Keep) that I think shows a lot of promise. Blogger Blackwarden has a lot of enthusiasm that I've been missing in the blogosphere. Of particular note is a re-reading of Moldvay Basic.

I know some of you might groan at that prospect of yet another someone posting about a rule set read-through; I for one really like getting an in-depth view of what another gamer thinks about the rules. It gives me a new perspective, and the potential for new insight.

So check out A Return to the Keep! I think you won't be disappointed!

  1. Cool! I will have to check this blog out.

Yeah, I am still doing TBBYANR, but the last one was 5 months ago. Need to fix that.

  2. Wow! Thanks for the publicity and the kind words Anthony. It's very much appreciated. One of my stated goals for the year is to become acquainted with and involved in the D&D community on the web. You've already helped me a great deal and I thank you for your efforts.

"Another" rule read-through. Damn! I thought I was the first. Ha! I should have researched a little more before starting my project. That's OK though. Rereading has been a great exercise in reliving my past and the nostalgic journey has been awesome thus far. Even if nobody reads the posts I would still continue onward.

Thanks again for the plug and please continue the great work on your blog. It has certainly been on of the major inspirations for my own thus far.

    1. Hey there. PLEASE do not feel like you shouldn't continue to post about your Moldvay re-read. Don't worry about what some haters and trolls may think. Like I said above, I like to see what people think when they do these re-reads, and I know there are others out there that like this as well!

Heck, another great blog called What a Terrible Night to Have a Curse has been doing a Mentzer Basic re-read:

And no prob about the plug. Tim at The Other Side, myself, and other bloggers who have been around for a while like to promote newer blogs.
